What is “Flags on the 4th?”
As I have been stitching the past month on all things patriotic, I had an idea about a “flag bowl” - A dough bowl if you will, full of stitched flags. All of the flags would have different shapes and sizes and be a variation on the American flag. Soon the idea was planted firmly in my head and I just knew I had to bring it to life!
I played around with a lot of ideas, but in the end, I wanted to keep this as simple as possible. I wanted you to be able to print out the chart and stitch right away. I wanted you to make this project your own - use your favorite cloths, with your favorite reds, whites and blues. I want you to make it your own! I am providing the chart, but I want you to use what you love!
Of course I will list all the details of the model on the front cover - but I really want you to LOVE what you are stitching. I want you to pick and choose favorite flags from your favorite patterns. I want you to make this project into what fits for you. If you only want to stitch this flag and call it good - that’s great. Or if you want to stick with - 12 flags in 12 months - that also works.
Here is my plan:
Each month I would like to start and finish a flag. I will start a new flag on the 4th of each month from July 4, 2022 - July 4, 2023. I have designed a collection of flags, but I will also pick flags from other patterns to add to my collection. I do not have a set amount of flags that I will be releasing, I am going to release them throughout the next year, and like I mentioned I want to share other flags from other designers that I love! I am stitching my flags on different cloths and as far as overall look - I would like to stick with dusty red, whites, and blues - colors that have a faded and cherished feel.
I will be sharing my progress of this project on our YouTube channel live videos. (Thursdays at 10:00 AM Mountain Time) I will additionally post my progress to our Instagram page: @PrimroseCottageStitches. You can also post on our FB group: Primrose Cottage
I am excited to see the progression of this project, and most of all I am excited to see your progress and all the various ways we can stitch our flag.
